Compliance Email Archiving

Every message a mailbox sends or receives is copied into a separate, tamper-evident archive as it passes, and kept for seven years. The archive is searchable by sender, recipient, date and content — which is what you need the day a regulator, an insurer or a lawyer asks for all correspondence with someone. Deleting a message from the mailbox does not delete it from the archive, and that is the entire point.

What you get

  • Journaling of all inbound and outbound mail for one mailbox, retained for seven years
  • eDiscovery search across the archive by address, date range or content
  • Export of a search result as a file you can hand to a lawyer or an auditor
  • Entries the mailbox owner cannot alter or delete, and a log of who searched for what

What this does not cover

  • Anything that arrived before the archive was switched on
  • Pulling archived mail back into a live mailbox — that is Mailbox Restore from Archive, charged per restore
  • The mailbox itself. This is billed per mailbox alongside Business Email Mailbox, not instead of it.
  • Advice on what you are required to retain, or for how long

Who it fits

A mailbox whose contents you could be asked to produce later — regulated work, contracts, anything billable. It is also what makes a folder deleted months ago recoverable, long after the platform trash has emptied itself, with Mailbox Restore from Archive doing the retrieving.
